The Suburban Transit Line 100 is a premier commuter route serving the heart of Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is a vital link for residents in the Princeton and New Brunswick areas, offering a high-frequency connection to New York City. This route is characterized by its dual nature: a local "collector" service through suburban campuses and downtowns, followed by a high-speed express run to Manhattan.

Route Start: Princeton / New Brunswick, NJ

The route begins in the academic and cultural hub of Princeton, with several departures originating near the Princeton Princeton Station (Wawa) or the downtown area.

As the bus travels north and east, it serves several major population centers and transit hubs:

  • Princeton Forestal Village: A key stop for the corporate and research parks along the Route 1 corridor.

  • Kendall Park & Monmouth Junction: The bus makes multiple stops along Route 27, serving residential neighborhoods and local shopping centers.

  • New Brunswick: A major anchor for the line, the bus serves the New Brunswick Train Station area and the Rutgers University campus, picking up a significant volume of student and professional commuters.

  • East Brunswick: The final major staging area before the express run, featuring stops at the East Brunswick Transportation Center and the Neilson Parking Plaza (Tower Center), which are among the largest park-and-ride facilities in the region.

The Turnpike Express

Once the bus departs East Brunswick, it enters the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) at Exit 9. From this point, the Line 100 operates as a true express service. It bypasses local traffic in Central and North Jersey, utilizing the Turnpike’s "Dual-Dual" lanes to ensure a reliable trip toward the Hudson River. The bus typically approaches the city via the Lincoln Tunnel.

Route End: New York City (Port Authority)

Upon exiting the tunnel, the bus enters the dedicated bus ramps that lead directly into the terminal, avoiding the congestion of the Midtown street level.

  • Final Terminus: The route concludes at the Port Authority Bus Terminal (PABT) on 42nd Street.
